Episode 1 - Columbus, The Vikings, and Smallpox! Oh My!

Episode 1 of SmitheyUSHistory - On today's screencast I cover some of the ground discussed in class at the start of the year in United States History at Clear Lake Intermediate. Today we discuss the discovery of the Americas by Columbus as well as ideas about who may have arrived in the Americas prior to Columbus. Also discussed is the Columbian Exchange and how the exchange of Animals and Crops also lead to an exchange of disease with devastating consequences for Native Americans. The worst of these was smallpox!
